L'ensemble des communes rattachées au projet d'agglomération franco-valdo-genevois est recouvert de polygones contigus décrivant les objets de la couverture du sol, au niveau du sol (pied des arbres et des bâtiments).
Des techniques de télédétection et de segmentation d'images ont été appliquées sur les images satellitaires SPOT 2004-2005, dans une analyse d'image orientée <objet>. La télédétection des objets et de leur classification ont été également favorisés par l'utilisation combinée du modèle numérique de hauteur (MNH) et des polygones du cadastre (bâtiments, routes etc.)
Le résultat est découpé selon les limites communales.
A l'intérieur des communes, les polygones présentent une découpe en escalier, suivant les pixels de l'image SPOT, d'un coté de 5m.
