Description: Les murs, bien qu'étant des éléments artificiels du paysage sont des structures accueillant une grande richesse biologique : champignons, lichens, lézards, fougères, etc. y trouvent refuge. Les mousses notamment les utilisent comme support pour leur croissance, chaque type de mur (calcaire, béton, mortier, etc.) est favorable à des mousses bien spécifiques, ce qui explique en partie la richesse des espèces présentes sur le canton de Genève (plus de 300).
Malheureusement peu pris en considération, ces biotopes artificiels méritent une attention particulière de la part des chargés de l'aménagement du territoire, des services communaux mais aussi des particuliers.
En effet tous ces partenaires sont un jour confrontés à la question du nettoyage et de l'entretien des murs, des interventions qui peuvent conditionner la disparition des espèces qui s'y établissent.
